How Do I Measure My Foot Width?

First things first: what shoe width are you shopping for? From narrow, to standard, to wide-width boots, finding the right
size can make all the difference in the comfort of your boots. Follow the steps, then find your perfect width on the boot
width chart below.

How Do I Measure My Calf Width?

Next, measure your calf to understand the boot opening and shaft circumference that will fit best. Getting the shaft
circumference right is essential for comfortably wearing tall boots (and getting boots on and off). This measurement
shows up in most women’s boots, as well as some men’s boots and kids’ boots. Follow the steps in the boot sizing
chart below to see if you’re looking for boots in standard calf, wide calf, or an extra-wide calf fit.

STEP 1: Understand what you’re measuring. The boot opening is the very top of the boot and should be measured
inside the boot. The shaft circumference is measured on the outside at the fullest part of the boot. The fullest part of
your calf should then be smaller than both the boot opening and shaft circumference for an ideal fit.
Step 2: Wrap a flexible tape measure around the fullest part of your calf. No flexible tape measure? No problem. Use a
string, then measure the length of the string against a ruler.
Step 3: Compare your measurements with those listed in the features section of the product description at dsw.com. If
the fullest part of your calf measures 15.5” or more, we recommend trying a wide-calf boot. (Note: Measurements may
vary slightly based on boot size.)
Step 4: Consider the details: Lacing or a little stretch may work best for a wider calf, while adjustable straps may be
magic for a more narrow calf.

SHAFT HEIGHT: Measure from the middle arch on the bottom of the foot (not including the heel) to the top of the boot. BOOT OPENING: Measure inside at the very top of the boot. SHAFT CIRCUMFERENCE: Measure the fullest part of the boot (& the fullest part of your calf).

Types of Women's Boots by Height

The best thing about boots is that there is literally an option for any look, any time of year. Boot size is key for fit and
comfort, but when it comes to style…it’s all about the height. And we aren’t just talking about heels, we’re talking about
boot shaft height. Here’s how boots break down by shaft height.
