JEMS by PENSOLE’s inaugural shoe is hand-crafted at the first Black-owned athletic footwear factory in the US. The design is a tribute to JEMS namesake, Jan Ernst Matzeliger, a Black Dutch immigrant who in 1883 patented a technology still used in footwear manufacturing today. Designed by JEMS founder, the legendary Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, fine detail on the premium leather sneaker pays homage to Jan’s life.

Unusual Sturdy Leather Sneakers

These white leather sneakers can be used on a tennis court or for workouts, and go well with jeans or workout clothes. They also appear to be well-made, run to size and are cushioned and comfortable, although they are a bit heavy for an athletic shoe. They also have a unique, stylish and colorful design, construction, and appearance with a good gripping and history-setting outer sole. These (2nd pair) shoes have been a very good addition to my shoes.

Good looking, nice materials, but unstable soles
