JEMS by PENSOLE’s inaugural shoe is hand-crafted at the first Black-owned athletic footwear factory in the US. The design is a tribute to JEMS namesake, Jan Ernst Matzeliger, a Black Dutch immigrant who in 1883 patented a technology still used in footwear manufacturing today. Designed by JEMS founder, the legendary Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, fine detail on the premium leather sneaker pays homage to Jan’s life.

Unusual Sturdy Leather Sneakers
These white leather sneakers can be used on a tennis court or for workouts, and go well with jeans or workout clothes. They also appear to be well-made, run to size and are cushioned and comfortable, although they are a bit heavy for an athletic shoe. They also have a unique, stylish and colorful design, construction, and appearance with a good gripping and history-setting outer sole. These (2nd pair) shoes have been a very good addition to my shoes.

A Walking Piece Of Art
These shoes are a statement piece all by themselves. The craftsmanship is remarkable and the design is so artistic. I got these for a Father’s Day present and my guy says they are absolutely comfortable as well.

Different. Stylish & well made
May not be for everyone. Mix of matte & glossy look. Little out there different color soles and laces but overall well made shoes. Nice quality Materials

Different Design
These sneakers are made by an African American company. They are sturdy in construction and have a nice look about them. I have not worn them yet, but they seem comfortable. They have a distinct look about them and their design is quite unique.

History Lesson
When I first saw these shoes, they caught my attention. As I looked into this shoes history, I was very impressed to support and purchase. The shoes are really comfortable, but I wish they came in half sizes. I may try a full size up to compare.

Great Looking and Comfortable
I haven't worn them out the house, since they are so good looking. Have shown them to some friends, and they take is they are too beautiful just to kick aroiund in, but greaty for going out to that special which is not a Black Tie event.

Greta shoes!!!
I am proud to own these shoes, they are part of my heritage. The shoes are made of high quality materials, much better than those name brands out there. They are comfortable and stylish, and you will be noticed in a positive way with these shoes.
