Stability with excellent comfort

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used a variety of Brooks shoes during the past 18 years. Adrenalin GTS for daily 45-minute workouts, Beast as my standbys for everyday use, and Addiction Walkers for 5-mile weekend walks. At 75, vigorous daily workouts take a toll on mid-foot strain - which is why I chose to try Ghost Max SE. The verdict: they're great - especially for long walks and long-duration activity. Excellent cushioning, combined with a stable sole, have led to a noticeable reduction in mid-foot stress and attendant pain.
There's a lot to like about this shoe. One suggestion though: opt for a half-size LARGER than your usual size. Reason: as the leather toe cap lacks the flexibility of mesh, it can impinge on the big toe, causing mild discomfort. Exchanging my 10 1/2 for 11 resolved the issue completely.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this shoe and ended up returning it. I found the Ghost Max SE to not have enough lateral support for my ankles. Too much uncontrollable lateral spring as I come off my heal.
I am looking for a shoe comparable to the NEW Balance 1540 v3 which I own. I was hoping to find a comparable shoe in the Brooks line up to replace my NB shoes.
