Straps need to have spandex

I purched this pair, because I knew the brand. I walked for miles in shoes from this brand while on vacation. I saw this style and thought it would be perfect for my classroom. Unfortunately, the straps on top are too wide and cannot be adjusted. They just sit there, making the shoe too wide for my medium foot. I hate so much to return them, because everything else about the shoes are perfect. I hope they correct this defect.
