Nice Sneaker, but don't fit right

I bought this sneakers based on the reviews I read. I love the gold color, but sadly these sneakers have to be returned. They hurt my toes and rub, they slip up and down on both my ankles and my feet throb when I take them off. I have worn White Mountain before, but somehow, these are uncomfortable. They have good cushioning which I like, not like Toms which don't. I wear 8 12 Medium in all my shoes, so don't understand why these don't fit right. Toe box is wide enough.
