Merrell Nova 4 Trail Shoe - Men's

Perfect fit, great toe box but the heel-toe drop was a deal breaker. When I tried them on they felt way more than 8mm. Unfortunately, that’s a deal breaker for me. 8mm would have been ok but this was too steep.

Having a wide foot and mild foot pain in most shoes, I have found that these shoes help alleviate the pain but they only last about six months before I need to buy a new pair. I have had the same greige color for my last three pairs. Not because I love it...but because it is the only color that is not ugly black or military green. Why do the wide Nova shoes never have any color? Why are they always bland or black? Years ago they had a couple varieties of rainbow year after year, and it was so exciting to actually have some color on my shoes again.

I don't trail run anymore but bought these mainly for walking and light hikes. I like the styling, light weight and cushy feel. However, the comfort leads to some trade-offs. I hiked on a moderate trail I used to run on, to see how they'd do (rocky AZ desert) and my ankle rolled about 5 times. They are just not supportive enough. I am 6'4" 220" some a lighter smaller person who doesn't need much support may do fine with these. Also, since the soles are fairly soft, grip is great but they wore out pretty quickly on my walks on asphalt. So uppers are in great shape but I'll have to ditch these due to the soles wearing. My Merrell Moab boots are still hanging in there after several years, so this review is should reflect only this style and not the entirety of the company's product line.

I've been wearing various versions of men's width Novas for years. I have neuropathy in my toes and need the width and roomy toe box. While this version isn't my favorite in appearance, they are probably the most comfortable. Happy feet! Buying a second pair in another color. It's hard to find wide widths so I appreciate that Merrel has wide widths, but I do wish that even more styles were available in a wise width and more colors. It's frustrating to see all of the great colors available in regular width and be limited to just 2 or 3 in wide width.

I had been needing to purchase trail runners in a wide width and there doesn’t seem to be as many wide widths available in many styles as in the past. I bought these a few months ago and they’re fantastic. These fit great, look good, are very light and the soles grip rocks and trails very well.

These feel like a great cushioning shoe, that would be very comfortable for the right feet. For me the arch support does not match well with my arch. The 2020 version of the saucony trail runners fit exceptionally well but subsequent models did not. The other trail runner that I purchased fits perfect and that was the Agility peak 5. That fits perfect.
