    I was looking for a hiking shoe that would support my high arch while going over rough terrain in the alps. Unfortunately I had to return them. It did not have much arch support and felt very hard inside. The tongue was also attached strangely to the shoe with an extra piece of fabric which bunched up. I could see how it might start to hurt. I sent them back.

    it took a number of years for me to give up my original Merrill’s but I wouldn’t even consider another brand. Just received my second pair and plan to hang on to these for a very long time. Very, very comfortable whether on a trail or on a city street and truly waterproof!
