The Casual hiker
After experiencing my first pair of Keen's in the Targhee IV hiking mid boot, I have been looking for something that I could wear to the office with the same comfort. The Austin comes very close. I would think it would be really hard to match the Targhee in terms of support and comfort, and it is, but the Austin is a different type and purposed shoe. I can wear it with casual semi-dress slacks in the office. It looks good. No, its not a dress shoe but for 90 percent of what I wear a shoe for, it is great. I like the leather, its good quality. I am happy with the purchase. I still love my Targhee IV's more!

Returning for a replacement
I have been wearing Keen Austins for a number of years now. They are my favorite shoe by far. I bought this pair online in the same size as all of my other pairs. There are three spots where my ankles are being rubbed at the point where they first contact the shoe. I have manipulated those spots a lot with my fingers, and worn the shoes on and off for a week, but no change. So I’m returning them for the same thing hoping for a different result. Always a possibility with shoes, one of the reasons I normally only buy shoes in person, but my luck up to point has been good with Keen. Hopefully no issues with the next pair!

Poor Quality of soles on Austin shoe.
I have had 3 pairs of Keen Austin shoes. The fit and comfort is great. Two pair lasted well for years, but one pair failed prematurely within 2 years when the outer soles delaminated from the shoe and broke apart. This pair was made in India, marked 1019471, and was clearly not up to Keen standards. With a one year warranty, this shoe is not acceptable.
The outer molded sole bonding failed and became unglued on both shoes (see photos). This pair was not up to the standard I expect for Keen based on my other orders of the same shoe. This short life is totally unacceptable from a reputable shoe company. I am sending you these pictures so that you may take action to improve your quality control of your manufacturing. photos are included showing the failures.

Nice casual shoe
I've been wearing Austins for over 10 years now and this one is just a bit better than the rest. What I like about it is the wide toe box and smooth leather finish that makes it a nice alternative between sneaker/hiker types and full on dress shoes. Also, I prefer the smooth leather to the previous Nubuck as it can be cleaned and even shined more easily. The leather is a little stiff in the tongue and I don't care for the flat laces which are just a little too short but I expect the leather to soften with use.

New favorite shoe
I bought a pair of Austins about two years ago, when my previous pair of Keen’s got to old and grungy to wear to church (I still wear them for working outdoors, though).
I love these shoes. They’re well made, comfortable, sturdy enough to wear on hikes, and look great whether you’re wearing casual or “nice” clothes.
I came to the Keen website today to buy another pair and thought I would leave a review while I was here.

A Company Not Honoring their Warranty
My first pair of Keen Austins have been so comfortable, that I ordred a second pair to add to my growing collection of Keen shoes. The new pair had one shoe whose tongue keep moving over to one side, causing the front of the shoe to ripple and pressure my foot (see photo). I thoughjt that this would correct itself as the leather broke in, only to discover that it kept getting more painful. When I finally had enough, I saw that I missed the return date by a day or two.
I submitted a warranty claim, and was told that Keen would follow up with their manufacturing people, but since comfort is not guananteed, my claim was denied. This clearly seems like another case of people judging themselves to be faultless, and in this case, also uncaring and not honoring their warranty.

Stitching Came Undone
I bought a pair of the Men's Austin Shoes. After awhile the stitching started coming apart above the toe. I'm 70 years old, and retired, so they weren't used for work, just everyday wear. I started buying Keen work shoes before retirement, and always liked them. But after this, I'm done.

Great shoes
Required some breaking in, but now very comfortable and sturdy, without feeling like a clunky hiking boot. A great everyday shoe.
