Too Wide!

Ordered Medium width- too wide! These are beautiful leather. Heels are a bit heavy. Comfortable instep, classic edgy look. Received dk. taupe and black. Seem well made. Heel height is perfect with oval toe. The length is spot on, so can't go down in size. The taupe is richly saturated perfect dark neutral suede. I'm a 6.5 med, they come in wide sizes so why are these med. size running so wide at the opening? Perhaps if the mules werent stuffed SO tight with stuffing and cardboard inserts possibly causing them to stretch? (Taupe was more wide/ stretched than black). I received them new. I have previous comfortiva open toe mules that fit perfect, so sad, wanted to keep. CS with DSW when ordering was excellent!
