American Leather Co. Leather Shoulder Bag

The bag looks nice in general, good size, great color (I bought the tan suede one) but because of the material you have to be extra careful, I have used the bag only once and it got stained from my jacket.

Love the large zippered pocket in center. The pockets on each side are both roomy. I love the outside pocket. It’s deep enough to hold my oversized phone without the phone showing. The leather is really soft.

I have been on a mission to find the "perfect" bag. I have a Kate Spade bag that I adore and is definitely the perfect *structured* bag, but I also wanted a perfect bag that was less structured while still being organized. I found something that I liked from Zara but it was a on the small side and the fake leather is just...ugh, it's so shiny and cheap looking. Some vegan leather bags are nice but not this one. So, with all this in mind, I went on the search for a real leather bag that has a slouchy profile without being just a huge open void to lose things in. How a bag feels on the shoulder is also a factor, you don't want to feel like it's constantly sliding off your shoulder, it needs to feel secure and comfortable. This bag fits the bill perfectly. It has a similar organizational paradigm to my Kate Spade bag (2 open compartments + a zip interior, this is my favorite bag layout) so that helps keep things in their place nicely. It also has an internal zip back pocket, 2 internal slip pockets, and an exterior slip pocket with a magnetic closure. It has a slouchy profile so it feels more casual for everyday compared to my firm and structured Kate Spade which feels more formal. I really feel like I could take this bag anywhere, though! The strap length is nice, long enough that I could put it over my shoulder with a big coat on but not awkwardly long. Holds the bag at a nice level for my body. Due to the incredibly soft and supple leather (like...wow...the feel and smell is amazing) it does not slide off my shoulder, feels very secure and comfortable. I work full time and am also a college student, having enough space is very important. There's plenty of space for my ipad mini + notebook, charging bank + cords, plus all the essentials anyone would have in their purse. The purse is not at all packed with these items. It's large and spacious without looking like a giant clown bag. The only things that would make me love this bag even more would be if it had a key leash and if the hardware were silver instead of copper/gold. I foresee myself looking to American Leather Co. for future purchases! Very happy I purchased on DSW, as it's $50-100 less expensive!
